Sometimes I have to laugh at all the social networks of which I’m a member. A quick glance at the list on the right of my page and you’ll count 20! What’s interesting about belonging to all of these social networks is the fact that so many of them track me… both voluntarily (Foursquare) and involuntarily (Facebook).

So the other night I wound up checking in to a few different spots using Foursquare. I went to the bike shop, the gas station, the 99 Cent Store and then to Ralphs.

What made me chuckle is that, given my tendency to check-in pretty much EVERYWHERE, my wife could easily follow my every movement throughout the county. There’s no way I’d be able to deny it. I mean, it gives the time (on the day you check in) and the location! Good thing I always go where I say I will.
Or better yet, good thing I have a wife who trusts me.

why? why so many?
Lol. My husband has a thing about knowing where I am every second of every day. It was a huge point of contention for a while till we had a big blow out one night after he’d evidently dreamed I was abducted and he didn’t know where to start looking because I hadn’t told him where I was going. It’s not that I withheld my whereabouts, I just would forget to tell him beforehand or decide to do something spontaneously. We’ve come to a great middle ground since that argument, though.
@Love_in_102 - You know, the answer to your question is interesting because I’m not active on all of these networks. Basically, I secure a “Myxl Dove” profile on most of the networks so that, just in case I become famous one day, I won’t have to pay someone for something that should already be mine. I’m just staking a claim. @Lady_Kelacy - Ha! My wife couldn’t care less. She never asks me where I’ve been or even where I’m going. I think because, most of the time, my schedule is so packed and predictable.
Staking your claim to the “World Wide Web” (transformer speak) heheI don’t have to worry about where my hubby is either. So if you didn’t check in, would that place still track your whereabouts?
Also, as I look at your list above, I counted 15 that I’ve been on at one time or another over the last ten years. I have accounts on some that I don’t use really, but not because some day I may become famous. lol Most were due to Xanga announcing they may close so I was off in search of a new place.
Yikes! I turn off my GPS because sometimes I wonder… But I’m not married so no one needs to keep track of me
Ha! That’s funny.
@SasGal - HA! Even if you were married your hubby would not and should not have to KEEP TRACK of you. Mine doesn’t and I don’t of him. It’s called trust. hehehe HUGZ lil lady!
Besides @Sasgal, I think you could take care of yourself if the need arose.
