Powered by WordPress
I put together this post for those who may be concerned that Xanga's transition to the WordPress platform means it'll simply be WordPress with a Xanga sticker across it. That couldn't be further from the truth. The WordPress platform is completely customizable. As such, Xanga has a ton of options if it decides to streamline the website and update the User Interface. Check out these other cool websites powered by WordPress! The names of the sites are links to the site if you'd like to explore a little further.

I dig the WordPress.
This could turn out to be a pretty slick plan with much more professional looking blogs. I, for one, am excited to see what the future holds for Xanga.
Thanks, Riis -- this makes it much more clear that it will be an updated version of Xanga, and will be upgradable.
But WordPress is free and what they are proposing is that I would now have to pay to use the same blog BUT could have a free account just to comment. No me gusta.
Optimism
WordPress has some seriously good tech. My business website is on WordPress. http://www.nepaiphonerepair.com
Great post. I think people still don't realize that having a blog on WP doesn't mean you will actually have an audience that isn't made of bots. Those are just some of the perils that come with having a free blog there. On the other hand, if Xanga was powered by WP, it would be a whole different thing than just having a blog on WP. Xanga on WP engine is way better than any blog out there.
looks interesting, hopefully things will planned out.
If it weren't for WordPress obvious lack of privacy I would be more excited, but these sites are promising. Thanks for the share Riis.
WordPress. I looked at it this morning, seems so confusing.
So will we still have our old blogs saved if xanga switches to wordpress? Will we get to keep our xanga names?
@fromprivatetopublic - yes, all of your posts and your user name will be retained.
Im looking forward to use xanga 2.0
