| | Someone called me on being a lurker on their blog the other day. It was true and I told them that I am planning to be more interactive with them. But it got me thinking... this topic is prime for further discussion. I admit that I like different bloggers for different reasons. Some people I like because their writing is witty and intelligent. Some people I like because they provide amazing photos as visual aid for the stories they tell. Others I like because I respect their opinions. While still there are others that are just a good way to waste time.
For all of these and more, my comments are wildly inconsistent. What I mean by that is simply there are people who are deeply intriguing which makes me want to interact with them more frequently than others. So I may comment and send a private message. Others, because of their abrasiveness or preference for controversy, are better admired from a distance. It doesn't mean that I don't like them, but I may not always agree with them.
So, I'll skim through their pulse history (Because really, Xanga doesn't seem to have figured out a good way to promote pulses yet. They don't even show up in search results.), or I'll run down a bunny trail of RECs, or I might just read their post that was featured and have a good laugh... without ever making my presence known aside from my footprints. Yeah, it's lurker-ish... but it's harmless. Plus, I'm sure with my ridiculous number of subs/friends (currently over 1,000), there's at least a few people doing the same thing with me and my blog.
So confess... Are you a chronic lurker?
