It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
Okay, fine.
It's done.
You were right.
The writing is on the wall.
The train has left the station.
The goose is cooked.
The walkers have invaded the farm. (Yes, I'm a nerd.
)
There's no more need for anyone to scream it on the rooftops. We have all come to realize that Xanga, as we have known it, is coming to an end. The age of Pulses, RECs, Top Blogs and a small cottage industry of theme makers, RPG-ers and quote posters has run its course.
What we should be focusing on now is what comes next. And I realize that is different for everyone...
As for me, Xanga 2.0 is what comes next.
We are pushing to raise $40,000 by day's end on July 3rd and we are currently at nearly $34,000. This is not an unrealistic goal. There are people on Xanga who can afford to make up that difference all on their own. I'm not saying they WILL. I'm simply saying they CAN.
So I'm making a personal appeal to all of you who really know me. I don't mean those who only see me as some Myxl Dove character who used to post TBOs and Completely Pointless Questions. But the ones who address me as Riis, and know me as that kinda cool guy from Los Angeles, who loves his wife and six kids and goes out of his way to promote unity, fairness and improve self-esteem.
If you know me, you know that I am the type of man who logically thinks things through and never makes rash decisions. You must know that if I'm endorsing Xanga 2.0, there must be a reason. I don't support this coming transition out of some misplaced loyalty to a lost cause. I do it because I believe in what the future holds for Xanga 2.0 and those who have come to make up this zany, yet wonderful community of writer, bloggers, moms, dads, professionals, students and world travelers.
The reality of what awaits us is more than some people can imagine right now because they're limited to their current field of vision. It's like trying to comprehend sunlight when all you've known is darkness. But I'm telling you that I've been outside. I know what it feels like to bask in the sun and play in the coastal waters!
So I'm putting my reputation on the line. Even if you can't see the sun, trust my confidence in this cause and let's get out of this cave... together.

I'm right there with you Riis.
Brilliantly said!!
I want to play in the sun and coastal waterways too...these cave crickets are killin me!
I will pledge when I get home tomorrow night.
I am with you my friend.
I really hope Xanga continues, in whatever form. Right now, I have absolutely no income and cannot afford a dime more than I've already paid in as a Premium member, but I have rec'd to spread the word.
